Christian Dior has finally ended its long search process for a successor to John Galliano when it announced on Monday that Raf Simons will be its next couturier. Ever since Galliano's downfall for his racist and anti-Semitic remarks, the industry has been eagerly waiting to see who would head up the French house.
The Fashion Grid has been a huge fan of Raf Simons during his tenure at Jil Sander, and WWD speculates that Dior's choice of Simons suggests that "the house is ready to judge its fashions in a more modern direction-given his predilection for minimalism and futurism." Below are a few looks from Jil Sander's Fall 2012 Collection, which marked Raf Simons' final show. TFG has no doubt that Simons will bring a fresh look to the Dior house and eagerly waits for his first collection to be presented during Paris Couture Week in July.
