Fashion Geek Alert: Google Glass Hits the DVF Runway
Diane von Furstenberg's Spring/Summer collection wasn't the only thing that came down the catwalk on Sunday. Her models were also donning Google Glass, the upcoming Internet-connected headset and eyewear device developed by the tech giant. The device has many smartphone-like functions and acts like a wearable computer: users can take pictures, record video, receive messages and check calendars, among other things. Google has packed memory, a processor, a camera, speaker and microphone, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi antennas, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and a battery-all inside the right earpiece.
DVF’s team took advantage of Glass’s recording capabilities and decided to incorporate them into their show and use the footage it captured to make a short film. The video is narrated by Furstenberg herself and takes viewers to pre-show fittings, backstage and down the runway.
The collaboration came about when Furstenberg had tried the Glass after meeting with Sergey Brin over the summer, who appeared alongside the designer for the finale walk. We are truly obsessed with this video and encourage our readers to check it out for themselves. You literally get to experience a fashion show through the eyes of a famous designer and a runway walk through the eyes of a model. Now this is fashion geekiness at its ultimate best.
